The initiative aims to create a new contemporary art and culture product, never done before in Bulgaria.
The project "Life Like in the Movie" by the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation is among 10 projects approved for funding under the Programme BG08 "Cultural heritage and contemporary arts" of the European Economic Area 2009-2014 project under Contract № 24-10-M4-8/27.05.2015. It was chosen by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria from among 240 other candidates.
“Life Like in the Movie" is an art production that brings together concepts of cinema, theatre, music and art photography and provides a platform for nearly 100 established and young professional artists, musicians, painters, photographers, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, religion or place of residence.
This art project is multidisciplinary and was presented in five Bulgarian cities. It includes:
1. A grand concert with movie music in the selected project areas in Bulgaria - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Dobrich and Turgovishte. Seventeen new arrangements of film music were presented, with music producer maestro Paul Stratsimir, conductor of the band with 12 musicians and featuring singers and artists Dessy Tenekedjieva, Miro, Mr. Vog and Vessela Yaneva.
2. During the show 17 multimedia videos were shown, including specially-filmed original interpretations of parts of the film that inspired the project and backstage footage from the shooting of the photographs. Multimedia: Dimitar Datchev.
3. A photographic exhibition of 33 original art photographs, reproducing scenes from some of the classics of world and Bulgarian cinema, exhibited in art spaces freely available in these five Bulgarian cities. The photographic exhibition travelled with the concert performances. Photographer and art director: Marieta Tzenova.
The combination of the three forms of contemporary art made "Life Like in the Movie" a comprehensive and highly original memorable art product. The performances drew great interest, packed halls and standing-room only.
